There’s no Canva Pro coupon code that works. The real ways to get Canva Pro free are Canva’s own programs: Canva Education is free for verified K-12 teachers and the students they invite, and Canva Nonprofits is free for registered charities, for one team of up to 50 people.
Everyone else can use Canva Free at no cost or try Canva Pro free once. As of October 2026, Canva Pro costs US$144 a year or US$18 a month in the US.
Search for free Canva Pro and you’ll find shared team links, “lifetime” codes and modded apps. Skip them. They break Canva’s terms, the person who owns a shared team can remove you at any time, and some of those pages are fake login screens built to steal your account. The options below are official, and they cost nothing if you qualify.

1. Canva Education: free for K-12 teachers and their students
Canva says Canva Education is free, with no paywalls, for K-12 educators, their students, and qualified school districts and schools. It includes most of Canva’s premium features plus extras for the classroom: thousands of education templates, the ability to share assignments with students, and integrations with tools such as Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology and Microsoft Teams.
Who qualifies
You must be active in one of these roles right now:
- A certified K-12 teacher at a formally accredited school who is currently teaching
- A certified K-12 school librarian
- A certified K-12 learning support assistant or teacher
- A certified K-12 curriculum specialist
- A certified teacher at a technical or vocational school serving K-12-age students
Accredited K-12 schools, school districts and departments of education can also join.
Who doesn’t qualify
- College and university teachers and students (Canva points them to Canva for Campus, which schools buy for their campus)
- Certified teachers who aren’t teaching right now
- Public librarians, preschool and daycare staff, and private, volunteer or online tutors
- Homeschool parents who aren’t licensed or employed by a K-12 school
- Parents of K-12 students
How to sign up as a teacher
- Go to canva.com/edu-signup. If you already have a Canva account, sign in first. Canva says your existing designs move over when you upgrade.
- Sign up with your school email address. If Canva recognizes your school’s email domain, you get access right away.
- No school email? Upload a photo or scan of an approved document, such as a teaching license or certification, a school ID that shows you teach, or proof of employment. Canva says it reviews applications within 48 hours. For teachers in the US, a copy of your teaching license is enough.
- Once you’re approved, Canva Education appears on your account. Canva asks every Canva Education user to verify again every 3 years.
How K-12 students get it
Students can’t sign up for Canva Education by themselves. Their teacher has to invite them from the teacher’s Canva Education account. If you’re a student, ask your teacher whether your class uses Canva. College students should check with their school, since some colleges pay for Canva for Campus. If yours doesn’t, Canva Free and the Pro trial are your options.
2. Canva Nonprofits: free Canva Pro for charities
Canva Nonprofits gives registered organizations every Canva Pro feature plus team collaboration tools, free, for one team of up to 50 users. If you need more seats, Canva offers 50% off Canva Enterprise seats.
Who qualifies
- Your organization is officially registered as a charitable nonprofit. In the US, that means a 501(c)(3).
- It’s independent of government and doesn’t get direct government appropriations.
- It doesn’t operate for commercial profit.
Canva lists many groups that don’t qualify, including other 501(c) types such as 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(6), government agencies, political groups, schools and universities, private and grant-making foundations, trade associations, B-Corps and social enterprises, fraternities and sororities, and professional sports clubs.
How to apply
- Gather proof that your organization is officially registered as a nonprofit, plus governing documents that show its structure and charitable purpose.
- Open Canva’s Nonprofits page and select Get started or Apply for Canva Nonprofits.
- Canva checks eligibility through its partner Goodstack. Follow Goodstack’s guidance for the documents needed in your country.
- Wait for the review. Canva says meeting the criteria doesn’t guarantee approval, and it reviews every request.
- Once you’re approved, invite your team, up to 50 people.
Upload clear, readable scans. If a PDF or photo is too big for the form, shrink it with our free image compressor, or see how to reduce image file size.
3. Try Canva Pro free with the official trial
Canva offers free trials of Canva Pro and Canva Business. The trial is available once per Canva account and once per payment method, so you can’t restart it with a new account using the same card. During a trial you get the same AI allowance as Canva Free. The larger allowance starts only after you pay.
- From the Canva homepage, select Start your free trial or Upgrade your plan.
- Choose Canva Pro. If you’re eligible, you’ll see Try it free.
- Pick a monthly or yearly plan, select Next, and choose a payment method.
- Enter your payment details and confirm.
Canva plans renew automatically. To see when your trial ends, select your profile picture → Settings → Billing & Teams. Cancel before that date if you don’t want to pay. Canva also emails a reminder before the trial ends, and a trial started without payment details simply ends with no charge.
4. Use Canva Free, which covers a lot
For flyers, social posts and school projects, the free plan is often enough. Canva’s pricing page lists these for Canva Free:
- A drag-and-drop editor with 1,000+ design types
- 1.6M+ templates and 4.7M+ photos, videos, graphics and audio files
- 1 Brand Kit, limited to 3 colors
- 5GB of cloud storage
- Up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses
What you give up: premium templates and content (Pro has 3.6M+ templates and 141M+ premium assets), AI tools such as background removal, resizing and translation, 5 Brand Kits, social post scheduling, 100GB of storage, and about 10 times the AI allowance.
Canva Pro price in the US (October 2026)

|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 5GB |
| Pro (1 person) | US$18 a month | US$144 a year | 100GB |
| Business (per person) | US$25 a month | US$250 a year | 500GB |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Contact sales | 1TB |
US prices as of October 2026, before tax. Canva changes its plans and features, so check canva.com/pricing before you buy. If you do pay, yearly billing is Canva’s own way to save: US$144 a year versus US$216 for 12 monthly payments.
Avoid fake free Canva Pro offers
- Shared team invite links sold on social media or marketplaces. The team owner controls the team and can remove you, and your work can go with it.
- Modded or “cracked” Canva apps. Apps from outside the official app stores can carry malware.
- Sites that ask you to log in to claim free Pro. That’s a classic phishing setup. Learn how to spot a phishing link.
- “Promo codes” in videos and comments. Canva’s trial and programs don’t need a code.
